Psalms 93:1

The Bible says in Psalm 93:1, “The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.” “The LORD reigneth.” That means that God is in control. God is the King over all the earth. Jesus is called the King of kings for a reason. All of life is a hierarchy, and God is at the top. God is at the top of every corporation, every government, every family, and every individual. God sets up, and God casts down. God decides who lives and how long. He is in charge. Do not be fooled by the headlines in the news reports. God decides what will happen in His world, and God has the power to do whatever He wants. God created the world and everyone and everything in it, and God will decide how long the world will be around. Do not believe all the gloom and doom that you hear because “the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.” The world will still be here thousands of years from now, unless Jesus comes back first; and then there will be the one thousand year reign of Christ.

The Bible says in Psalm 93:2, “Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.” How long has God been in charge of everything: forever into the past. How long will God be in charge of everything: forever into the future. God is immortal and eternal. He is the ever-living One. That is why we get eternal life once we are connected to Him through faith in Christ.

The Bible says in Psalm 93:3-4, “The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.[4] The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.” In the Bible the “floods” and the sea are symbolic of the masses of people of the earth. Sometimes the seas are quiet, and sometimes there are mighty waves that can be destructive.  The masses of people in my country can be like that. With their complaints, and their attacks, and their wild rebellion they can be like “the noise of many waters.” But even though they seem to control the news industry, and the entertainment world, and the college campuses, and a large number of the members of the political parties, God controls them. God is in charge. Do not ever forget that. The history of the human race is heading towards the direction that God sets. Their words and actions can backfire on them, and they will backfire when God decides that it will be.

The Bible says in Psalm 93:5, “Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.” The Lord is in control of all things, but what we can control is what is important to us individually. We cannot control others, but we can control ourselves. The Psalmist said, “Thy testimonies are very sure.” The Word of God is important. We must rely upon the Word. We must make the right place for it in our lives. It is our spiritual food. It is the truth that we can always rely on. But we want to study it in order to put it into practice. God wants us to be holy because He is holy, and His Word shows us the way of holiness.
