“Because they have no changes”
Psalms 55:16-18 says, “As for me, I
will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at
Notice King
David’s response to the wickedness around him, prayer. Notice also
the connection between prayer and victory in battle. There are many spiritual
battles to be fought in this life and they must be won through prayer.
Psalms 55:19 says, “God shall hear, and afflict them, even
he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no
changes, therefore they fear not God.”
An interesting reason is given hear
for why some people do not trust in Jesus Christ. It says, “because they have no changes.” In other
words their lives are the same everyday. They have a routine, nothing
unpredictable or unexpected happens. Now there is nothing wrong with having a
routine most people in the world have lives that have no changes so to speak.
They get up they go to work they go home they pay their bills.
But the truth is there is a false
security in a life that has no changes because eventfully there will be
changes. This is the nature of life. Even if a person lived a long life with no
changes eventually change would come. That person would grow old and die.
Change does come, unexpected things happen, the storms and sorrows of life will
come eventually if they have not
But for many
people to have a life of no changes can be a stumbling block to them trusting
in Jesus. After all they are trusting in no changes just the same as a
person might trust in their riches to save them.
Psalms 55:19 says, “God shall hear, and afflict them, even
he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no
changes, therefore they fear not God.”
God shall, hear, and afflict them.
When changes do come in a person’s life often God is involved in those changes
using the circumstances to work in that person’s life to bring them to the
gospel. God want’s men to fear Him,
to respect Him, to awe at His glory. You can be certain change will come
to give you a chance
to fear God.
Psalms 55:20-21, “He hath put
forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his
covenant. The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his
heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.”
In talking
about evil men Psalms chapter 55 focus on one characteristic, their dishonesty. These verses
say that their dishonesty is used to steal away peace and cause war. These
verses also are an excellent description of false teachers and what the
antichrist will be like, words “smoother than butter, but war was in
his heart”
If you trust Jesus for wisdom then you
will not be deceived by the liars in the world around you no matter how subtle
or crafty their lies may be.
Psalms 55:22-23 says, “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He
shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. But Thou,
O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction:
bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust
in thee.”
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He
shall sustain thee. This is a great truth from God’s Word. Everyone has burden’s and man was not mean to carry His own burden’s
without God. If you trust in Jesus all will be well even regardless of what
bloody and deceitful men do.
No matter how heavy the burden Jesus
will be there to comfort you, to guide you, to help you, to carry your burden
for you. There is no burden greater than all the sins of the world and Jesus
carried that burden to the cross in death. If the burden of your own sins has
been lifted by the blood of Jesus then surely with Jesus any other burden is a burden you can b are.
If you do not know Jesus Christ as
your Savior then pray to Him right know and say Lord I know that I am a sinner
and I repent of my sins to you. And Jesus will lift the burden of your sins
from you.
