Psalms 45:16-17

“Instead Of Thy Fathers Shall Be Thy Children”

Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love?

There is sorrow on the sea;

It cannot be quiet.

O sleeper? Arise, call upon thy God

Cast forth the wares from vessel to vessel

For the day is near a cloudy day

When I passed by thee,

And looked upon thee,

Behold, thy time was the time of love

I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth

The love of thine espousals

Thus saith the LORD;

A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished:

Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way

Prepare ye the way of the LORD

Go thee one way or other,

Either on the right hand,

Or on the left

Withersoever thy face is set.

Appoint thee two ways,

Choose thou a place

Appoint a way,

That the sword may come

Even say thou, The sword,

The sword is drawn

For the slaughter it is furbished,

To consume because of the glittering

Shall I cause it to return into his sheath?

Thus saith the Lord God

I will overturn, overturn, overturn it:

By the way in the places of the paths

Draw me and I will run after thee

For thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee

Take me up and cast me forth

can thine heart endure?

Wherefore sighest thou?

For the tidings; because it cometh:

And every heart shall melt

Thus saith the LORD;

A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished:

Ah! It is made bright

Therefore shall my sword go forth

Sigh therefore, with bitterness sigh

There is a way, the way and He

He hath settled on His lees

A way, and it shall be called the way of holiness

Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love?

There is sorrow on the sea;

It cannot be quiet.

Psalms 45:16-17 says, Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.”

Since the days of the tower of Babel one of the characteristics of this world has been the tendency of men to seek after power, fame, and riches. There is a great difference however between the power, fame and riches of this world and the majesty of Jesus Christ and the glory of the grace of God.

People that seek after power and fame often are very obsessed with what other people think of them. What you should be more concerned about is what does Jesus Christ think of you?

Psalms 45:16-17 says, Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.”

In learning about the majesty of Jesus Christ one thing to remember is children. Psalms 45 tells us about the return of Jesus Christ, the marriage of Christ to the Church, and in these last two verses it talks about children.

Notice the phrase in verse 16,  Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children.” What is so special about children? God created human life. God loves human life. What happens is that life is passed on. Those once young grow old. Those that grow up marry and have children. This is the normal process of life the way God made it to be.

”Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children.” In reading Psalms chapter 45 what we notice is an important teaching regarding what often happens to a virgin when she leaves her father and mother and cleaves unto her husband. Sometimes young women have a very hard time letting go of their fathers. Fathers grow old and die. Young virgins fall in love get married and have children.

This same principle of growth and family and love is true spiritually speaking as well for the church. ”Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children.”

2000 years ago the 12 apostles were the fathers of the church. Sometimes Christians wonder where are all the trees planted by the rivers of water.  If anything this verse in Psalms teaches us about 69: law and grace in Christ Jesus.

Psalms 45:16 says, Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.”

Father to daughter to child or you could say apostles to bride of Christ the church, to when we shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye at the return of Jesus Christ.

God has a way of turn all things around and making them better. In the days of the apostle’s they called it the way. It is Christianity. True Christianity, the true grace the righteousness of Christ which is freely given to all whom repent of their sins to Jesus Christ. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Ezekiel 21:16,  I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.” God can overturn anything. This is what 69 means. The greatest overturning of God through Christ other than the death burial and resurrection of Christ at the beginning of this age will be at the end of the age of grace when Christ returns in the twinkling of an eye.

Jesus said, For nation shall rise against nation.”  When we watch the world and watch the perilous times increase would we should remember is that really  when it comes to war and political change or upheaval of any kind it is really Christ that overturns things.

Ezekiel 21:16,  I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.” Psalms 45:16 says, Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.”

Sometimes in this age of grace Christians in God’s grace are given power and authority over countries and sometimes the lost people of the world are. Sometimes when freedom rises or falls in a country it is because it is simply the will of God in wisdom for bringing the gospel to the lost souls of this world. If you want to understand what goes in the world of politics then you must look at it though the understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The United States of America may or may not be a half time of grace in this age. Regardless of what nations rise or fall and regardless of how freedom increases or decreases in this world one thing is certain Christ will always overturn, overturn, overturn. 45:16 says, Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.”  Sometimes Christians fall into slavery. Sometimes Christians must fight for freedom. Sometimes even God does not want His Children to fight for freedom.  Regardless of any of these circumstances instead of thy fathers shall be thy children.

Psalms 45:17, I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.”

One of the great blessings of having children other than learning about the value of human life and the delicate nature of life is to pass on the knowledge of the Word of God. A good name is rather to be chosen than silver or gold. There is no name as good nor as remembered as the name of Jesus Christ. There is no name as famous as the name of Jesus Christ. What does a good name remembered do in the world? What has the name of Jesus Christ done for this world in the past 2000 years? The World has changed much in the past 2000 years has it not? And overall it has changed for the better. Freedom has increased. Technology has increased. Life has increased. Jesus said in John 10:10-11, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”

If you do not have a good name you can by turning from your sins to Jesus.  Jesus washes away all sin through His love.

Behold, thy time was the time of love

Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children
