Psalms 45:12

“Be there with a gift”

Psalms 45:9-12, “And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall entreat Thy favour.”

Psalms 45 is a Psalms about the majesty of Jesus Christ. In talking about the majesty of Christ Jesus the King of kings one of the things mentioned is the giving of gifts. God is a God of grace and therefore God is a giver. Everything that God gives is good. God gives gifts to men and men should give back to God. Count your blessings name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Alot can be said about the grace of God and about giving but what is mentioned here in Psalms chapter 45 is Tyre and the daughter of Tyre. Tyre was a city which was involved in the giving of great riches towards the building of the temple of King Solomon. I Kings chapter 9:10-11, “And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, (Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire.).”

Of course this teaches us about giving. When you give to God you should always give your best, you should always give everything that you can, your time, your possession, your prayers, your abilities, your youth, you riches: everything. And what you give should be given for the purpose of the building of the temple and the beauty of the temple.

Now in talking about the temple what should be remembered is that the Old Testament temple was symbolic of the place where the presence of God was found. The true meaning of what the temple is is explained in the New Testament. I Corinthians 6:19 says, “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

The body is meant to be the temple of the living God. Now in talking about the giving of gifts what is mentioned in I Kings is “gold, according to all his desire.”  Of course as mentioned in the previous verses of Psalms chapter 45 there is no gold like the gold of Ophir. O, Fear the LORD.  If you want to give to the LORD then do so by giving to the building of the temple and the beautification of the temple. The way this is done is through the building up of the faith of the believers. There is no greater work for a Christian to do in this life, apart from helping to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, than to help build up the faith of the believers. To have the gold of Ophir and to have gold according to all one’s desire is to have a great gift of grace through the Word of God.

Oh yes there are many ways to give. You can give your money yes you can. One of the greatest examples of giving is found the gospel of Mark chapter 12:41-44 which says, “And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.”

Oh yes it may indeed help a great deal to give a little money. What a gift this poor woman gave, two mites. And it has resulted in many sermons being preached and many souls being saved from reading these verses of God’s Word. However when you give to God there are many ways to give other than just by giving money. For example a police officer by simply doing his job honestly is giving to God; giving to preserve freedom in a country; giving to promote justice in a country. You are giving to God when you give to others the practical wisdom that you have learned in life such as wisdom on how to save and prepare for the future. This is giving to God too.

There are many ways to give. If you want to learn about grace and how to be a giver then learn about the grace of God learn about the things that God gives and how God gives them to men and then you will gain the wisdom to give gifts like the daughter of Tyre.

Psalms 45:12 says, “And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall entreat Thy favour.”  Psalm chapter 45 is a Psalm which talks about the return of Christ in all His majesty at the  twinkling of an eye and at the end of the 7 year tribulation. These are the last days. We know that Christ is ready to gird His Sword upon His thigh. When He does what gifts will you have to give to Christ?

Isaiah 30:27, “Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: His lips are full of indignation, and His tongue as a devouring fire.”  Isaiah 30:29, “ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.”

When Christ returns the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift. Will you be there with a gift? Are you watching? Are you waiting for the return of Christ. Proverbs 17:8 says, “A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whither soever it turneth, it prospereth.”

How few there are in this world who ever give to God: of their time, of their money, of their prayers, of their abilities, of anything. A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of God. When you give to God, when you do what you do in your heart for the glory of Jesus, when you give your own will over to God’s will what a gift what a precious stone that the Almighty King of Kings will take and turn and it shall prosper however God in His wisdom choses to use that gift.

It says of the woman who cast in her two mites, “she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.”  Ife only we would cast in all that we have even all our living cast it to Jesus and pick up our cross and follow Christ.

Psalms 45:12, “And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall entreat Thy favour.”  What was the gift that the daughter of Tyre gave? Maybe no one knows except Jesus.  But, O, when you give to God and you give so that others might grow in their faith in the promises of God God shall take what you give of your life and God shall use it according to all His desire. A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of Him who hath it. Withersoever it turneth it prospereth.

Ife faith is like gold and ife when I give I do so according to the will of God and my giving results in others having  a faith of gold according to all their desire then I am doing my part in the building of the temple of the LORD.

Zechariah 6:12-13, “And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: Even He shall build the temple of the LORD; and He shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon His throne; and he shall be a priest upon His throne: and the counsel of peace shall between them both.”  Ultimately it is Christ that shall build the temple of the LORD. Christ died for our sins. Our righteousness is of Christ and not ourselves. Christ is the Branch; the Branch that shall build the temple of the LORD.

Shall you be there with a gift? What about a faith of gold purified through the Word of God. “And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift.”
