“The Snares of the wicked”
Psalms 38:12-14, “They also
that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak
mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. But I, as a deaf man,
heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not
his mouth. Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and
in whose mouth are no reproofs.’’
The first 11 verses of Psalms chapter
38 teach us that God uses the consequences of sin to lead men to trust in
Christ for salvation. Every human being has a conscience. And every human being
has some understanding regarding the possible bad consequences to sinful
actions.
The most wicked
people in the world are those who oppose the Bible. They oppose the Bible
because they are wicked. They hate Jesus and the hate the truth. The most wicked people in this world are very calculating and
manipulative. They plot and scheme and they are like the devil in that they do
everything they can to try to get a Christian to sin because they know there
are consequences to sin. This is why the Bible says in Psalms 38:12, “They also
that seek after my life lay snares for me.”
The word here used for snare means
trap. A trap is something you walk into without seeing, like a pit that is
covered. Do not be deceived into thinking you are at peace when you are at war
spiritually. Do not be deceiving into thinking things are easy when you are
facing great temptation and tremendous spiritual opposition.
We live in the last days. 2000 years
ago the Apostle Paul said he lived in the last days. In a sense you could say
we live in the final hours of the last days. If you look at the world around
you, you will see that much of the world is preparing to become the kingdom of
that beast called the anti-Christ. In other words, the devil has a network of
humans in all levels of government from the highest to the lowest authority in
all countries and societies and amongst all the peoples of all nations.
Revelation 13:1 says, “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up
out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten
crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.’’ These devil worshipers are
not small groups of teenagers who go
out into the woods and do mischievous things but it is most of the world. There
numbers are in the millions and millions and millions.
Jesus said in Matthew 22:14, “For many are
called, but few are chosen.’’ There are few people in this world who have
turned form their sins and turned to Jesus Christ. Regardless of how few are
the Christians in this world it does not matter because the strength of the
Christian is Christ who is the only God. The devil is not God. And there is no
one who is almighty except for Jesus.
Concerning the greatness of Jesus
Christ of the Jews, Jesus who is Jehovah, The King of kings, The Gamb of God, the Bible says in Ephesians chapter 1:18-21
regarding the greatness of Christ, “The eyes of your understanding being
enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the
riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding
greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his
mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and
set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all
principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named,
not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.’’
We live in the last days. There is
tremendous persecution going on all over the world against Christians including
in
Psalms 38:12 says, “They also
that seek after my life lay snares for me.”
A snare is a trap. Do everything you can as a Christian to stay
separated from the world and to protect your children as carefully as you can.
However the slander and sex slavery that has been going on against Christians
so severely for the past 30 years cannot stop the Word or the truth of the
Gospel of Jesus Christ or the Christian from having a testimony. A Christian’s faith is not dependent
upon how much He does not suffer but on the Word of God because faith comes by
hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
Psalms 38:13-14 says, “But I, as a
deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth
not his mouth. Thus I was as a man that heareth not,
and in whose mouth are no reproofs. I was as a man that heareth
not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.’’
Slander can be a horrible thing
especially when that slander involves a person who has been raped repeatedly
and sodomized, and given a terminal illness such as hiv and has had their sexual molestations filmed and made public. Many of these Christians have been
so abused at a young age it has damage them mentally and emotionally. Some
Christians are put in institutions and declared mentally insane. And in these
government intuitions they are persecuted more and drugged, and mocked, and
eventually murdered. This is what is going in
However whatever kind of slander and
persecution happens to you these verses in Psalms 38 tell us the slander is not
important. Do not focus on the lies and the slanders that other men say against
you focus on the Word of God. Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things
are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these
things.’’
One thing about persecution especially
slander is that the evil forces use it to try to distract the Christian from
serving Christ and growing in the faith. Don’t focus on the mischievous things
the wicked speak, rather focus on the promises of God and the character of God:
God is love. Jesus will never leave you or forsake you. You cannot lose your
salvation because it is based on the righteousness of Christ and not your own
sinfulness. You have eternal life and an inheritance in heaven as a joint-heir
with Christ which you cannot lose. Focus on these things not on the slander.
Psalms 38:12 says, “They
also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt
speak mischievous things.’’ It is the last days. The Christian should
beware of the snares of the wicked. Are a believer in
Jesus? Then you are a watchman. Oh Watchman what of the night? It is not a time
of peace in
