Psalms 27:9

Psalms 27:9 says, “Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.” All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. It is appointed unto man once to die but after this the judgment. Everyone who rejects Jesus Christ as their Savior is destined for the lake of fire. Hell is a real place. The spirit of the world makes like of Hell. But Hell is a place of God’s anger.

Revelation 20:13-15 says, “And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire

There is only suffering to be found in hell; suffering for sin. This is why the message of the gospel is so important. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Psalms 97:5, “How long, LORD? Wilt thou be angry for ever? Shall thy jealousy burn like fire The worst part about eternal judgment in hell is separation from the prescence of God.

The phrase to put away used here in Psalms 27:9, “Put not thy servant away in anger,” is used in Exodus 7:5 which says, “And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them

God is Holy and God is righteous. Therefore He gets angry at sin. There must be judgment for sin. People must be held accountable for the things that they do wrong. God judges both nations and individuals. When you turn away from Jesus He turns away from you. This is the opposite of the principle, “draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you.” Jesus doesn’t make people serve him and He does not make people repent of their sins. Man must choose to do so.

There is one thing you can be certain of; if you repent of your sins and turn to Jesus Christ for salvation He will never hide his face from you and He will never forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 says, “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee

These principles right here in God’s Word teach us how powerful God is. It says of Jesus in Ephesians 1:18-23, “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all

Psalms 27:10, says “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.” What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul? The phrase take me up can mean to hold fast. We live in the last days. The mystery of iniquity is at work in the world. There is a falling away from the truth of God’s Word. However it does not matter how much others fall away from the truth and it does not matter what you lose in this life because even if those closest to you forsake you Christ will never leave you nor forsake you.

The important thing is that you “hold fast.” Hebrews 4:14 says, “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.” To hold fast means to keep believing the promises of God. What you do is important, but so is what you believe. Works do not save you. Grace through faith in Jesus Christ saves. That is why Jesus said, “This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him whom he hath sent

Concerning the last days Jesus said in Mark 13:9-13, “But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them. And the gospel must first be published among all nations. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.  Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved

Psalms 27:11, “Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.” One very important reason that Christians need to rely upon Jesus Christ for wisdom is because as a child of God you will have enemies. They hated and killed Jesus. They will do the same to you. James 1:5 says, “If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not.” The wisdom of God can be found in the Bible. The only way to be truly taught and lead of the LORD Jesus Christ is to study the Bible. The Bible teaches us that Christ came to this earth born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross of Calvary. He rose from the grave through the power of God. The Bible also teaches us that those whom trust in Jesus will receive all spiritual blessings in heavenly places. God’s Word is true. God’s Word is without error. God’s Word is preserved forever. God keeps his promises. Therefore we know that Jesus will guide, protect and provide for those whom follow him. And we know that Jesus will help His children to endure suffering and persecution.

Psalms 27:13 says, “Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty

There is always deliverance to be found in Jesus. The will of God is more powerful than the will of man and more powerful than the will of any fallen angel. There are some things God is going to do no matter what. One of the things that God has already done is the redemption that is found in the blood of Jesus Christ. Colossians 1:13-14, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins

Those that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. In the last days, all Christians shall suffer persecution. Do not be deceived by the mystery of iniquity. Do not be lured away by the casting of their nets. Regardless of how great the persecution is here in the last days ultimately Christ is going to deliver his children from the will of the enemy because He himself is going to take his children from the earth. God has great grace and loving kindness. His timing is perfect. He is all powerful.  Wait on the LORD.

Psalms 27:13-14 says, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” All good things come from God. Without the goodness of God life would not be worth living. There is always good and bad in this world. There is blessing and suffering. For the true Christian there is often more physical suffering than physical blessing. Even so because a Christian is a sinner who has trusted in Christ for forgiveness of sins, they have the spiritual blessing of redemption from sin and all spiritual blessings in heavenly places. Even though the sufferings and persecutions that besiege Christians can at times be unbearable, we can bare them because of the goodness of Jesus. The secret is to wait on the LORD.

These are the last days. The mystery of iniquity is at work in the world. The devil has come down from heaven having great wrath and the evil forces are bent on devouring the faith of Christians. I am weak but Jesus is strong therefore I wait on him. It does not matter how much you fail as long as you do not cease to wait on Him. If you fail to wait on Him today, try again tomorrow.

Second Timothy chapter 3:1- says, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth

Because of the wickedness of men and the mystery of iniquity at work here in the last days it is very important that Christians wait on the LORD. To wait on the LORD means to continue to believe His promises. Psalms 28:1 says, “Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle

Not only does a Christian need to wait on Jesus. But a Christian needs to pray. The Christian life is a life of Faith. Faith is not based on the things that you can see but it is based on the promises of God. Sometimes just to believe God’s promises take a great effort. And sometimes to pray can take a great effort too. If you have the righteousness of Jesus Christ you can be certain that God will hear your prayers because a relationship with God is based on what Jesus has done for you and not on your works. It does not matter how good of a person you think you are without Jesus you are still just a weak and sinful man.

The most important prayer to make is the prayer to Christ for forgiveness of your sins unto salvation. One way to understand the power of prayer is to consider the prayer of Jesus in, John 17:20, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.” Prayer is so powerful. Here is an example of Jesus praying for all those whom since the beginning of the world until the end of the world shouldst ever trust in Christ. It does not hurt to pray for something specifically or someone by name but then again at the same time you can pray for the whole world just as Jesus did and either way such a prayer is just as effective. Prayer is about faith because with God all things are possible.

Psalms 28:3, “Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts  Another thing that we should pray just as Jesus taught us to pray is that He deliver us from evil. Those that live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. However God can deliver you from any situation if it is his will.

The word mischief mean evil. Genesis 2:9 says, “And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil

Here in the last days those that give themselves over to the forces of evil will be completely under the control of the devil. This is the reason to stay away from Hollywood. Every evil imaginable, every suffering imaginable that the devil desires to do unto the Christians he will do if he can. The prayer of the Christian should be, “Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity  One of the best ways to be a testimony to the lost people of the world in these last days is by continuing in the principle of separation from the unbelievers. Do not follow after the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life like they do but rather follow after the promises of God.

The Bible says, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.” If you have never turned from your sins and turned to Jesus Christ today is the day of salvation. The end of the world is drawing nigh. And so too is the great judgment.  Eternal life is better than eternal death. Broad is the road and wide is the gate that leads to destruction and many there be that find it. But how few are there of men whom turn from their sins and turn to Jesus.
