Psalms 45:13-15

“With Gladness and Rejoicing Shall They Be Brought”

Psalms 45:13-15 says, ”The king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king’s palace.”

Psalms chapter 45 not only gives us a picture of the majesty of Christ but it also describes for us the return of Christ at the twinkling of the eye when Christ shall gather all the believers together at the end of the age of grace and deliver them from this evil world.

The key word to notice in these verses is the word, ”virgin.” In these verses the virgins and the king’s daughter, is symbolic of the church. A virgin is symbolic of righteousness; the righteousness of Christ which is imputed unto all men whom turn from their sins to Jesus Christ.

Isaiah chapter 7:13-15 says, ”And he said, hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? Therefore the LORD himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that He may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.”

The fact that God the Father in His eternal wisdom sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to be born of a virgin is not only a miracle in that we know for a baby to be brought into this world it takes both a man and a woman but it was also a sign of righteousness; the righteousness of Christ.

Isaiah 7:14 says, “Therefore the LORD himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” The virgin birth is a sign; a sign of the fact that Jesus Christ is God and of the truth that Christ is the only one with righteousness; the only one without sin.

Now in talking about virginity what should also be talked about is marriage. Virginity and marriage go together. Psalm 45 is a psalm about the marriage of Christ to the Church and in a practical sense, the sense of earthly human love and marriage, virginity and marriage go together very wonderfully. Think about these verses in the Bible when you think about righteousness, virginity, and marriage: Proverbs 30:18-19 says, ”There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not: The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid. ” Hebrews 13:4 says, ”Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. ” 2 Corinthians 11:2 says, ”For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”

The way of a man with a maid: Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled. A virgin is not more spiritual than a man and a woman that are married but a virgin symbolizes righteousness, purity, waiting on the Lord, self control, possessing one’s own vessel with honour.

Most people in this world are very sexually immoral having eyes full of adultery. Therefore those that learn to trust and rely upon Jesus with their emotional needs are few in this world and very special to God. To live a righteous life can be very hard to do in this world today with all the vile sexual immorality that bombards the world from Hollywood, on tv, on computers and from the sexual immorality that is taught in the government controlled public schools. But just think of the great eternal and even the practical blessings of both being a virgin until you are married and of being faithful to your spouse in marriage.

The Mother of Jesus is one great example of the blessings of a righteous life. Mary was a virgin and God chose Mary evidently both because of her faith in God and because of her righteous life in a practical sense. God chose her to be the mother of Jesus. Of the great gospel work of redemption and eternal life in Jesus Christ that God is doing in this world from the beginning of time to the end of the world Mary, the virgin, became the mother of Jesus. Where will your place in time and history and eternity according to God and according to the over all work of the gospel of Jesus be? 2 Corinthians 11:2 says, ”For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”

O, Yes, those in this world that live a righteous life both unmarried or even married are few indeed and therefore very special to God. If you live a righteous life, if you possess your vessel with honour there is no doubt that God will use you in a great way for the Gospel of Jesus Christ just as God used Mary the mother of Jesus. Because of the great, eternal, unfailing grace of God even those who have fallen into sexual immorality can repent of their sins to Jesus and become virgins of righteousness. I John 1:9 says, ”If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ”

Perhaps this is why in understanding the righteousness of Christ which is freely given by grace through faith to all those that repent of their sins to Jesus the word virgin best describes for us what it means to have the righteousness of Christ. Romans 3:23 says, ”For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

What is righteousness? What is righteousness to you? What is righteousness to God? What is the righteousness of God which is of the law? What is the righteousness of God which is of faith? When you think of righteousness think of virginity. Can a person who has lost their virginity become a virgin again? No. Can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb?

John 3:1-5, ”There was man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with Him.Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. ”

Can a person who has lost their virginity become a virgin again? No. Can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb? Yet we know that which is impossible with men is possible with God. You can become a virgin again by turning from your sins to Jesus. You cannot enter the second time into your mother’s womb but you can enter into the spiritual birth and be born of the Spirit.

The righteousness of God is like the great mountains it says in the book of Psalms. When a man and a woman are brought together in marriage and holy matrimony and they behold each other for the first time in the intimacy of romance just think about the difference between a situation where both are virgins or one is not a virgin. How sad it is that in the world today so little is thought of virginity by most people except for those involved in human slavery.

When it comes to spiritual marriage it is just as it says 2 Corinthians 11:2, ”For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”

God will accept nothing less than virgins. How thankful we can be that righteous is imputed by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. There is a word in the Bible that God uses many times to describe how He sees those who do not have the righteousness of Christ. It is the word, “whore.” What about you who would you prefer to marry a whore or a virgin?

Ezekiel 43:9 says, ”Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcasses of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever. ”

We live in the age which is called the last days. This is the age of grace therefore grace, grace unto it as God increases His grace in this world. However one of the dominant characteristics of this age is the perilous times in which we live is the whoredom and the whoremongers. 2 Timothy chapter 3:1-2 says, ”This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves. ”

The problem in America today is not that men need to love themselves more but that they need to love other people more. Love your neighbor as yourself. This is one reason the public school system in the United States and the government controlled school systems of many other countries have had a tremendously evil and destructive influence on the world and the lives of individuals. It may be that the public and government school systems of the world are doing more to promote sexual immorality than even Hollywood has done over the past 90 years. In thinking about virgins and the righteousness of Christ remember these two verses in the Bible Proverbs 30:19 which says, ”There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not: The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid. ” Hebrews 13:4 says, ”Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. ”

The way of a man with a maid is not the way of a man with himself and the way of a maid with a man is not the way of a maid with herself. The public school systems promote and teach sexual immorality by teaching people to touch themselves sexually. It is not healthy emotionally, physically, mentally, or spiritually to touch yourself sexually. 2 Timothy chapter 3:1-2 says, ”This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves. ”

When the Bible talks about romance and the physical needs of men and women it says in I Corinthians 7:1-4, ”Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.”

Sexual immorality always destroys a society. All sexually immorality is damaging to a person emotionally and mentally. Sex out of marriage is the cause of sexual diseases including HIV. Perhaps this is why HIV is such a tremendous plague in the world today. It is a sexually transmitted blood disease. What the world really needs is the blood of Jesus to cleanse them of their sins including their homosexuality and their touching of themselves. Public school systems teach young men and women to touch themselves. This turns people into sexual perverts who cannot control their own sexual desires. The touching of one’s self is not the way of a man with a maid it turns people into selfish people, even serial killers. A touch between a man and a woman in marriage should be done out of love not out of one’s own selfish desires.

In thinking about the king’s daughter and the virgins her companions and the righteous of Christ which is symbolized here notice what verses 13 and 14 say, ”The King’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework. ”

Gold in the Bible is used to symbolize faith especially a mature faith in Jesus Christ and the promises of the Bible. Now think about how much work it takes by hand to weave clothing. God is doing a work with His hands in the lives of believers both on an individual basis and in the sense of the church as a whole. The Work that God is doing with the church and in the individual lives of believers is the building up of faith. Loving-kindness and grace a needlework of the hands of God weaving together the hearts and minds of believers.

One of the most important ways this is done in a practical sense is simply by Christians living a righteous life and staying from sexual immorality. I Corinthians 6:13-20, ”Now the body is not for fornication, but for the LORD; and the Lord for the body. And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by His own power. Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? Know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? For two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not our own? For ye are bought with a price: there glorify God in your body, and in you spirit, which are God’s. ”

Flee fornication. The king’s daughter is all glorious within. She the church shall be brought unto the king with a faith of gold. The virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto the king of kings as well. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that your God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power.

You will hear much from the world that is very negative about marriage between a man and a woman. You will here many lies from the world about the pleasures of sex out of marriage. But if you want to fulfill all the good pleasure of the goodness of God then follow after the way of a man with a maid and the way of a maid with a man both in virginity possessing your vessel with honour and in marriage being faithful unto your spouse.

2 Thessalonians 1:11 says, ”Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power. ”

Virginity is used in the Bible to symbolize and to picture righteousness; the righteousness of Christ. When a man and woman come together for marriage and both are virgins it is a blessing and pleasure to them both in the intimacy of their romance. This is what righteousness is like to God. To God righteousness is virginity in a spiritual sense.

Psalms chapter 45 is a Psalms showing us the majesty of Christ as the King of kings and Psalms 45 shows us the great lovingkindness and grace in God’s preparing the church, the bride of Christ for the return of Christ and for the marriage supper of the Lamb. The king’s daughter is all glorious within. She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework. Her clothing is of wrought gold. The church shall be made a chaste virgin. A faith of gold requires a practical righteousness the practical righteous of faith in Christ and of possessing one’s own vessel with honour both in virginity and marriage.

Hollywood will bombard you, the internet will bombard you with the pleasures of sex out of marriage. The world will use its satellite technology and drugs to try to brain wash you and put you into sexual slavery. Rape is not fornication. Even with all the slavery that exists in the world you do not have to give in to sexual immorality. You can still be a virgin.

When you think of the word virgin think of the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ both of faith and in a practial day by day way. And think about the great work of the gospel and the redemption of souls from sin that God is doing in this world.

The Bible when it speaks of the will of God speaks of pleasure including in the way of a man with a man in marriage and in waiting on marriage. Fullfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power; the power of Jesus Christ.

Psalms chapter 45:15 says, ”With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king’s palace. ” What two words are associated with virginity and with the way of a man with a maid in marriage, ”gladness and rejoicing. ”

Oh yes in this world even the lost people of the world to some degree understand the value of virginity. Even in the human slave trafficking markets of the world the virgins are the most valued possessions. Who does God value the most? Why God values the virgins of righteousness? If you turn from your sins to Jesus you will have the righteousness of Christ and you can never lose that eternal righteousness which is imputed by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Christian’s, especially here in the United States should consider, God’s attitude towards sexual morality (the way of a man with a maid) and its effect upon the gospel of Jesus and the work that God is doing in this world.

With gladness and rejoicing? Why what is the opposite of gladness and rejoicing: sorrow and woe and suffering. What is the opposite of virginity and sexual morality in marriage? Why it is broken hearts, broken homes, sexual diseases, mental illnesses, violent crime, including murder, and kidnapping, rape, sodomy, child molestations, international problems with slavery, and lives that are cut short on this earth in all the leaves of their spring. Virginity and the way of a man with a maid in marriage increases freedom for a country and for the world and provides gladness and rejoicing for little children in loving homes that have both a mother and a father to protect and teach them. The world will never follow the way of a man with a maid but ife if at least all the Christians, all the Christians, would do so. Stand! Stand shall they cry? Homosexuality destroys the world. Touching yourself even is just as destructive as all other more obvious forms of whoredom. The way of a man with a maid in virginity and marriage increases grace in this world for Christians is a glorious testimony of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.

Psalms chapter 45:13-15 says, ”The king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king’s palace. ”
